The Best WhatConverts Alternative

The Best WhatConverts Alternative

WhatConverts is a popular call tracking software used by marketers to track inbound phone calls from marketing campaigns. The SaaS company is known for being easy to use and cheap. If pricing is important to you (and it should be), you might find yourself looking at WhatConverts as an alternative to CallRail, Retreaver, or CallTrackingMetrics, to help with call attribution and lead management.

When you’re first starting with call tracking to meet your business needs for lead tracking from marketing channels on various campaigns and landing pages, it might make sense to use WhatConverts because of its simple functionality and ease of use. As you start to grow and really dive into the metrics like conversion rate by marketing channel and high performing keywords on Google Adwords, you might notice some limitation for WhatConverts.

Ideally, you want a call tracking software system that can grow as your business grows. You will ultimately want to set up advanced call routing and respond to your sales leads from the same phone number they called or texted you from. Digital marketing only works if you can measure the return on your marketing efforts and optimize ad spend.

Looking for a WhatConverts alternative? You’re not the only one.

How does WhatConverts work?

Like most call tracking software systems, WhatConverts uses dynamic number insertion and tracked phone numbers to help report on inbound phone calls from marketing campaigns. They have integrations with Google Adwords, Google Analytics, popular CRM Salesforce, WordPress, Zapier, and others. They also track web forms to show you the path of the conversion like this: visitor searched “dentist Detroit mi” –> visit website –> filled out a form. If they decide to call instead of filling out a web form, the call will be tracked, and they can use call recording to make sure it was a good lead.

Examples of WhatConverts Alternatives

While there are some advantages to using WhatConverts for your business, there are alternatives available that are affordable and offer advanced features required for growing businesses.

Due to a lack of features around telephony, contact center, ability to automate text messages for missed calls, no mobile app, and real-time reporting, WhatConverts isn’t a sustainable call tracking software option – especially if your business is growing and needs to communicate with your leads.

For small businesses and marketing agencies, a product like PhoneWagon is a highly-rated alternative with thousands of happy users.

WhatConverts Alternative for Small Business

As a small business, you’ll need a call tracking software solution that can be used by your sales and customer support teams. For example, multiple people on your team need to text and call customers from the same phone number that the customer originally contacted you from. That’s not available through WhatConvert as they lack telephony and communication features.

That’s why you need a call tracking software solution that has built-in calling and texting. With the right business phone system, you can enable multiple users to communicate with customers from the same phone line.

WhatConverts Alternative for Agencies

Marketing agencies need a reliable call tracking software solution that can scale as they add clients and ramp up ad spend for existing clients. Setting up automated text messages and responding to inbound calls and texts is critical to increasing conversion rates and improving return on ad spend.

Introducing Inbox 🎉

Introducing Inbox 🎉

Today we are excited to launch Inbox! 🎉

PhoneWagon is always working hard to improve our customers’ experience and make it easier to drive more calls and turn those calls into customers. Today we are excited to announce the launch of Inbox – a better way for your entire team to communicate with leads and customers on any device. With Inbox, your entire team can make and receive inbound calls and text from customers and view the entire conversation in one thread, all from the same phone number.

Text messaging has become increasingly popular with consumers (especially millennials) as their preferred communication channel. Being able to communicate with customers through text messages is a crucial piece to increasing conversion rates. We’ve always had a text message automation that sends to missed calls, but now you’re able to have a 2-way text message conversation with customers directly from our Inbox. Whether you are sending a text message as a follow-up or texting new leads, the response rate from text messages and SMS cannot be denied. The open rate from sending text messages is 97%, and all businesses and sales reps need to incorporate SMS messages into their sales process.

With Inbox, there is also a “list view” that allows you to see all inbound and outbound phone calls and text message activity at a glance and gather valuable insights from these activities. This is the view that most of our customers were previously using in our classic app. For companies that do lead generation and drive inbound phone calls and text messages to their clients, this view enables you to see those valuable leads and attribute the marketing channels that generated the lead.

With one click, you can switch between the conversation view and the list view.

Redesigned Layout With Lead Attribution Data

Inbox is designed to help marketers, small businesses, and sales professionals capture, manage and engage with their leads all in one place from a shared inbox. Now, when you’re responding to a Lead in the Inbox, whether that’s a phone call or a text conversation, their attribution data is visible on the right panel—no more switching tabs or hunting for information.

It’s there to help you quickly view the source of the lead, what keywords they are searching, and lots more. This gives you all the context you’ll need to provide a delightful customer experience, follow up with your lead with more personalized context (I.e., pricing conversation vs. scheduling), and turn more calls and texts into customers.

And of course, all this will push into your favorite CRM or reporting tool in real-time through our direct integrations or API.

More space for conversations

With PhoneWagon Inbox, you can see a history of all your activities (phone calls and text messages / SMS). It is the easiest place for you to check your voicemail, listen to a call recording, make outbound phone calls, or send a text message—inbox threads all the activities between a Lead and a PhoneWagon number into a Conversation. We will show the contact information of the lead or customer at the top of the conversation. Now, we give more space for the Conversation so that you can see more customer activities and engage with your leads faster with context.

Some of our customers are salespeople who want to utilize text message marketing combined with other efforts on social media, LinkedIn, and cold outreach. Our Inbox now allows you to respond to inbound responses with a call or SMS text from your SMS marketing and turn those responses into paying customers.

Powerful features that help you close more deals

In addition to the changes mentioned, there are additional features in Inbox that were designed to smooth your workflow and help you work faster.

1. Create, customize and manage your saved views
2. Block numbers in Inbox
3. Save forwarding numbers
4. Redesigned layout with an additional panel for lead attributes
5. More space for the Conversation
6. Improved recording player
7. Text message templates
8. Emojis
9. SMS campaigns

More product updates are coming soon…

1. Take notes in Inbox
2. export the list view

As always, we’ll continue to listen to your feedback, and we will have more design updates coming soon. Together, we’ll continue to make PhoneWagon even better!

With a recent update, we moved all the filters to the sidebar; you can filter based on Tags, Companies, Numbers, Duration, Keywords, and other filters. You can also pick up the time range you would like to see at the top right of the page.

Q: Can I export the list?

This is coming very soon. I’ll update this post when this is launched.

The Best CallRail Alternative

The Best CallRail Alternative

Is CallRail the best call tracking software for your business?

CallRail is one of the leading call tracking software providers for marketers.

Like many other call tracking software providers, CallRail offers all the key features needed for tracking inbound phone calls from marketing campaigns. And they have call analytics, dynamic number insertion with keyword-level tracking, call routing, IVR functionality, inbound and outbound calling and messaging, call recording, and integrations with Google Adwords, CRM platforms like Salesforce, Google Analytics, and WordPress. With all of this, CallRail has become a key player in the call tracking software industry. However, it is better suited for larger enterprises.

CallRail’s product and business model is suited for larger enterprises and mid-market companies. Even though CallRail is cheaper than some call tracking providers like Invoca, Callsource, Marchex, and Dialogtech, it’s still more costly than other call tracking software providers that offer the same features (like whatconverts, callfire, calltrackingmetrics, etc.). And it’s hard to use, especially if you are the type of person used to getting a little bit of support and training when starting to use a new system.

In this post, we’ll go into the details of what CallRail offers, why it might not be the right fit for your business or agency, and what agencies and small businesses can use instead.

CallRail Alternative for Small Businesses & Agencies

Pricing

CallRail starts at $45/month, but that only includes some phone numbers, text messages, and minutes. Advanced features like advanced call flows, premium integrations (including the most popular CRM Salesforce and marketing automation platform Marketo), and white-label are locked behind higher-priced add-ons.

If you want to communicate with your customers with phone calls and text messages, you have to purchase their Lead Center licenses. This is an extra $30/user/month on top of the call tracking plan you are also required to purchase.

If your business has just 10 employees and you use Salesforce and call flows, CallRail will most likely cost more than $500/month. That’s if you use just 25 numbers and 2,500 minutes per month. If you have a call center or team doing sales calls, using a predictive dialer, or have a callback widget on your website, your volume (and therefore costs) are going to be significantly higher. Probably multiple thousands of dollars per month. Yikes.

For a small business, you probably don’t want to spend so much money on your call tracking software every month as the costs can quickly add up, especially as your usage increases, and you have to pay their expensive overage rates of $0.04 – $0.05 per minute.

There are plenty of CallRail alternatives that are much more cost-effective for businesses to use and easier to adopt. After all, you’re not just looking for a laundry list of features. You want a service that works that your team likes to use, and that provides a high level of customer support from real humans. Speaking of which…

User Experience

CallRail is a product that was launched nearly a decade ago. When companies use an outdated user interface and aesthetics of the early 2000s web products, it slows down their customers from getting work done fast.

Best Features Locked Behind Expensive Add-Ons

For modern businesses, key features like CRM integrations, advanced call flows, and real-time customer support are much needed. With CallRail, they lock all these features behind expensive add-ons. If you want to use CallRail for more than an analytics platform, which is how they market themselves, you have to purchase multiple plans, including $30/user/month just to make and receive calls and texts with your customers.

Customer Support

Due to its size, CallRail’s customer support team is unable to support all of its customers effectively. Based on publicly available reviews and social media posts, their support team is not as responsive as customers would like. Also, there is no option for 24/7 support. Here are some examples of how customers feel about CallRail’s support:

PhoneWagon – The Best CallRail Alternative

If you’re looking for a CallRail alternative, look no further than PhoneWagon. PhoneWagon is a modern business phone system that tracks calls and texts from marketing efforts. It allows your entire team to communicate with customers from a shared inbox on any device. Simply put, PhoneWagon has similar features as CallRail, but with a modern user experience and at a better price point.

PhoneWagon helps marketers and businesses focused on lead generation with attribution and includes a modern VoIP business phone system that includes calling and SMS. Our all-in-one call tracking software and business phone system enables any business or contact center to track incoming calls and texts from marketing campaigns, improve conversion rates, and deliver a superior customer experience by knowing exactly which marketing channel the customer came from. Announcing our new affiliate program!

Announcing our new affiliate program!

Hey everyone! I’m super excited to announce the launch of our new affiliate program!

It’s new for a couple reasons I’ll explain below but yes we did previously have a referral program. We actually had over 230 people sign up as affiliates and nearly half of them referred at least 1 customer. On the contrary that means we had over 100 people that signed up and never referred a single customer. Also, our average number of sales from our affiliates was about 3 and just one person referred more than 10.

Ultimately the success of the program is on me. Admittedly I didn’t spend too much time on our program after the initial setup. I didn’t talk to affiliates and see what they wanted, I didn’t ask them if they had enough resources to be successful, and overall I just didn’t put my time into the project.

HOWEVER, 2020 is a new year and this is something I’m jazzed about. I want this new program to absolutely blow those previous numbers out of the water. A couple things we’re doing different this time:

– We’re paying 20% recurring commissions for every sale you make from your referral link. And the 20% recurring commission is for the LIFETIME of the account. Previously we were paying 10% commission to start and then it scaled up to 20% as the volume increased. We also previously would cut off the commission payments after 2 years. This time we’re starting at 20% and paying out commissions for as long as the customer is active with PhoneWagon.

– We’ve switched backend platforms. We’re now using a platform called First Promoter which was designed for SaaS businesses. It’s super easy to use and I’m excited for everyone to check it out!

– More time investment. I’m committed to making our affiliate program a wild success and will be spending a lot of time working with affiliates to figure out how we can make them successful. This means more assets, more ideas, more content, etc. This will be a high priority for me.

I’m definitely looking for help to make the program a success. If you know anything about running a successful SaaS affiliate program please reach out to me. I will literally pay you and be forever grateful.

If you have ideas on how to recruit awesome affiliates, cool promotions that would move the needle for affiliates, and other ideas to make this thing a success, please share!

Text notifications for new leads in webflow

Text notifications for new leads in webflow

Earlier today I wrote an article about how to get text message notifications for new leads from your unbounce landing pages. This allows you to instantly notify the client with a text whenever someone fills out the form on their website or landing page. The information from the form will be in the text message and your client can tap on the phone number to give them a call instantly. No more losing leads because of delayed response times.

I’m going to quickly go over how you can set this up with your Webflow landing pages as well. I’ve included an interactive exercise at the end where you can go to a site that I own and test it out yourself and receive a text message instantly for a form you fill out.

Let me show you how it works:

Step 1: Create a zap in zapier

Ultimately, this is what your zap will look like:

Just like in my previous post, you MUST accept this invite-only link to enable our SMS zap that will be used in the second part of this.

Now let’s create the zap.

Step 2: Start with the trigger zap- “Form Submission in Webflow

Choose App: Webflow

Choose Trigger Event: Form Submission

Choose Account: Sync your Webflow account here

Customize Submission:

Site Name: Select your webflow site name / project

Form Name: choose your form

Find data: confirm it’s pulling data

Step 3: Add Action Zap: “Send SMS in PhoneWagon Access (1.0.30)

Choose App: PhoneWagon Access (1.0.30)

Choose Action Event: Send SMS

Choose Account: Add new account

Get your API client ID and API Secret ID by clicking top right corner in PhoneWagon account and then clicking the gear icon to go to settings

Navigate to General and then grab your client ID and secret ID:

Now go to Customize SMS

Recipient Number: This is the CLIENT’S number that you want to receive the text messages for the new leads. Enter in this format: +16355355189

Sender number: This is where you can choose any of your PhoneWagon numbers to send the text message notification from. You can even create a new number in your PhoneWagon account that is designed just to send these notifications.

Text: This is where you can customize your text message.

Here’s how I customized my text message notifications:

Notice that I manually typed “Email:” and then I used the “insert data” from the webflow form so it populates with that information for each form submission. After you customize your text, make sure to hit “TEST AND CONTINUE” to confirm it’s working (you’ll need to have some data in the form to do a test).

After you do the test, click “done editing” and turn on your zap. You’re done!

Here’s the text message notification we just setup:

*BONUS* –> Want to test this out yourself?

I made a landing page where you can fill out a small form and you’ll receive the text message as if you were the client! Here’s how to test it out:

Step 1: Go to https://www.plumbers-new-york.com/

Step 2: Fill out the form and press “submit”

Step 3: Receive text message!

Note that you enter YOUR phone number in the top field. This is going to be where we send the text notification. Then fill out the other 2 fields as if you’re a lead looking for a plumbing company. Boom – you get a text instantly when the form is submitted!

Hope this is helpful!

As always, if you want to signup for a free trial of our software and test this out yourself, you can do so with this link: https://web.phonewagon.com/signup
